D.7 – Monitoring amphibian in small wetlands in Ter River
The monitoring of amphibian populations will be made by adapting the methodology of tracking and monitoring amphibians in Catalonia that has been made in the project LIFE Riparia-Ter (LIFE08 NAT/E/000072). The purpose of this monitoring is to monitor amphibian populations inhabiting in the small wetlands that will be created along the banks of the rivers Ter and Llémena by executing the action C3. Monitored species present in the study area are Marbled Newt, Mediterranean Tree Frog, Natterjack Toad, Western Spadefoot Toad, Iberian frog and Common Midwife Toad.
This monitoring will take place between 2014 and 2017 and includes three annual campaigns between March and June. These samples will be conducted by night census by voices, and monitoring recruitment of larval amphibians that breed in these wetlands. The monitoring will know the species that inhabit the area, the use made of this habitat, abundance, phenology, etc., as well as the evolution of populations.
