D.8 – Monitoring limnological and small wetland vegetation in the river Ter
Limnological monitoring of vegetation and small wetlands in Ter is a basic action to know its evolution in the short and medium term.
The basic limnological monitoring of new small wetlands consist of monthly measurements of various physical and chemical variables of water (level, temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, conductivity and others), from the moment of its creation, and throughout the project. The information gained through this monitoring will be important to determine its ecological performance, especially in relation to the dynamics of the flow and water quality of the river itself, for the public data reference by the competent authority (Catalan Water Agency).
Regarding the monitoring of new vegetation in these created small wetlands, there will be three seasons during the year after its creation, and two campaigns per year (summer and fall) until completion of the project. The colonization of space and the evolution of plant species will be studies, and also the surface of the recovered Mediterranean temporary ponds.
