Since the beginning of the project in January 2014, the control of invasive turtles and track specimens European Pond Turtle (Emys orbicularis), a released species native to Ter, has been monitored. Catches of invasive species are done in Ter river and also in Banyoles Lake, where had already been doing this practice before. Between 2014 and 2015, 197 invasive turtles have been captured and almost 50 during 2016. Most were caught in the river Ter, 200, and about 50 in Banyoles.

Captures are done through insolation traps (there are 40) between April and October, and covers much slower sections of the River Ter from Bescanó and Colomers. They are reviewed weekly. Most turtles found are invasive subspecies of red-eared or Florida turtle (Trachemys scripta elegans), but the project has also captured some specimens of yellow bellied turtle (Trachemys scripta scripta) and the hybrid and some sort of two Pseudemys sp. The installation of these traps also clearly show that there is a good population of Mediterranean Turtles (Mauremys leprosa) in the Ter river since the same traps have captured 150 turtles of this native species -some individuals have been caught several times throughout the period-.

Traps also allow to track the released individuals of pond turtles that had been bred in captivity, as well as through special handles with bait. In 2015 and 2016 about 50 and 30 were captured by these means. These catches have allowed us to confirm the good acclimatization of the terrapins in the release sites, with significant growth in length to one year. However, any wild individual of this species during the project in the Ter river or Lake Banyoles has not been captured. In 2015 70 copies of pond turtles have been released, some of which had been monitored with radiotracking techniques. Only one of them has an attempt to predation but it could be recovered.

Regarding Banyoles Lake, pond turtles released earlier, between 2011 and 2013, are still recovering, with more than 120 captures between 2014 and 2016. There is a remarkable success of acclimatization, individuals with large size, good colour and some females with eggs that could have raised it during 2015 and 2016. Some of them have also has predation attempts, such as a female with an otter bite on the shell and a part of its tail cut.
